Journals From A 2003 Thru-Hike of the Appalachian Trail (by Loony)
Entry #53 – May 21, 2003
10:00 PM – OK, so I was a bit bitter yesterday. Today, we woke to rain, so we were very glad that we had stayed in the shelter. Were about the first ones to stir, as all the tenters didn’t want to get up & out into the rain. Started hiking around 9. The rain continued all day. Got to Partnership Shelter around 1:30 – 13 miles. There is a visitor’s center nearby with a phone, so we were able to order pizza – pretty much everyone who comes here does. Also got the delivery person to pick up beer for us. Rain let up this afternoon – the shelter is packed – must be 30 people here at least. Supposed to rain all week, which I’m not looking forward to.
