Journals From A 2003 Thru-Hike of the Appalachian Trail (by Loony)
Entry #79 – June 22, 2003
9:10 PM – A pretty uneventful day. HOWEVER, it was actually a BEAUTIFUL Day! A bit cloudy in the morning, but blue skies, breezy & sunny after that. Perfect weather for hiking, so we did 23 or so miles. Out of the Park and we’re at Tom Floyd Shelter tonight. Just Bill & Sketch are in the shelter. We decided to tent because of the weather. Glad we did, because the mice were all over just when we were up there eating dinner. Into Linden tomorrow for our mail drop.
Was thinking about something today. All of us thru-hikers are always cracking jokes & getting annoyed by all the tourists & day-hikers on the Trail. Seems odd, cause none of us have been in these places any more than them. I guess the reason is, is that the Trail is our “home.” No matter where we are on it, we feel like we belong there, and others are outsiders. Kind of wierd…
