Entry #97 – July 16, 2003

10:15 PM – A bit of a sprinkly rain this morning, but nothing big. Glad for that. What a tiring day. Did 20 miles into Delaware Water Gap. We just wanted to get out of PA once & for all, and tomorrow we will be. Not sure what had possessed me to, but in the last registers I had been saying crazy things like “the rocks aren’t so bad” And “they’re kind of fun.” Ha – I must have been delirious!! Today was the worst yet. Maybe not really, but they were driving me INSANE. The whole trail is jagged, pointy rocks, sticking straight up out of the ground. What makes it even more maddening is crossing over little dirt roads & paths that are perfectly clear. But the trail goes on, through the jumbled, stony mess. Arggggg. But enough of that, since tomorrow we’ll be in New Jersey.

Staying in Delaware Water Gap tonight @ the church hostel! Too many people to count -we’re tenting on the lawn. Got to take showers, though, thanks be to God – Ha!
