Journals From A 2003 Thru-Hike of the Appalachian Trail (by Loony)
Entry #123 – August 19, 2003
9:05 PM – A hard 18 mile day… The weather was beautiful again though. Made it up Killington fairly easy. The second highest Mtn in Vermont. Took the side trail up to the peak where we found a ski lift and overpriced snack bar. Hiked back down to our packs to eat our own lunch instead. The day ended up @ The Inn at the Long Trail. It’s kind of a traditional hiker stop. The trail used to go right by it, but they’ve rerouted it since, so we had to walk a half mile out of our way. Had dinner & a couple of beers @ their Irish Pub. We’re camped across the road with other hikers. They have rooms @ the Inn, but they’re a bit pricey for what you get. Since the southern VT border, we’ve been following the Long Trail (also the AT). Now it splits off & continues north to Canada & we go east to NH. Not sure what we’ll do tomorrow. We either have to haul ass to Hanover to get a mail drop by Saturday or take it easy & get there Monday.
