Entry #140 – September 10, 2003

7:50 PM – Well, Andy insists that he’s still having fun, so hopefully he fits in somewhere between idiot and super genius! Maybe any normal person would still be thinking this is fabulous and I’m the insane one! Oh well!

What a windy day – it was blowing like crazy! Thought we were going to be swept off a couple of these rocky mtns. Can’t imagine what it must have been like on Mt Washington. Speaking of which, it seems that every time we get a view, there’s Washington looking as close as it ever was. I feel like we’re standing still! What’s really frustrating is that by the AT, we’re 55 miles from Washington, but as the crow flies it’s only 25! OY!

Saw a porcupine on the trail today, which was kind of neat. Andy saw it first, just sitting there, and then it waddled up in front of us for quite a ways.

We’re about 4.5 miles into Maine now, and the terrain is definitely rugged! But we’ve walked from GA to ME now, so that means we can go home now, right? Ha!

The Notch is first thing tomorrow. Should be interesting…
