Journals From A 2003 Thru-Hike of the Appalachian Trail (by Loony)

Entry #142 – September 12, 2003

8:50 PM – Another beautiful day weather-wise. Baldpate Mtn was pretty nice. Great views. I’m tired of these rock mountains. They’re flat rock faces that we have to “walk” straight up. Andy doesn’t have a problem, but the steepness scares me – I feel like I’m about to fall off the face of the earth. At least it hasn’t been raining.

Hit the road to go into Andover around 3:30 and got a ride so we were there by 4. Went in & got some food & beer and free leftover pizza. Ran into 1/3, Trace, Roamin Around and Freeway. Hung out for a while and then we got a ride out pretty quick too. Ended up camping near the road and were joined by everyone we saw in town, plus Loser showed up, too. Kind of a late night, Trail-wise – 9:00!

Fall is definitely on its way. The birches are turning and dropping their leaves. A few Maples are turning, too.
