Journals From A 2003 Thru-Hike of the Appalachian Trail (by Loony)

Entry #144 – September 14, 2003

8:30 PM – Did 17 miles today – our longest day in quite a while. The sky clouded over for a bit, but started clearing up in the afternoon. It’s been pretty warm lately – almost too warm. There’s no wind so it gets kind of stuffy at night. Crossed some nice areas today. There have been a lot of lakes, but it’s kind of sad because we only get to look down at them from the mountaintops. Passed an awesome sand swimming beach on our way into the shelter, but unfortunately it was too late & we had to get everything set up & eat. It gets dark so early now. We’re supposed to have a couple more sunny days, and it’s supposed to cool down some too.

Into Rangely tomorrow for resupply.
